In the 14 counties served by Feed My People, more than 46,000 individuals depend on FoodShare. With benefits delayed beginning November 1 - for the first time in its 60-year history - many families will be left without reliable funds to buy food.
According to Feeding America, charitable food programs like food banks and pantries provide only 1 in 9 pounds (11%) of total food assistance in the U.S., while federal nutrition programs, including FoodShare, account for the remaining 89%.
Feed My People is doing everything possible to respond. We’ve stocked up our warehouse and are preparing for a sustained surge in visits from our neighbors who suddenly find themselves without the support they count on. We have already seen a 50% increase overnight to our Friday and Monday evening pop-ups, and many of our partners are reporting sharp increases in visits as well.
